Mesa Cloths by Mailyn
My grandmother was a weaver and I always loved and admired her work. I knew that it was something special, so when I moved to Salt Spring Island on BC's west coast in 2010 and was introduced to the thriving weaver's guild here, I jumped at the opportunity to learn the craft myself.
I started by weaving towels, scarves and shawls and, over time, I found a way to incorporate my spiritual practice into my weaving when I was asked to weave mestana/medicine bundle cloths and ties. It feels perfect as after becoming a mother, I've had a bit less time to focus on my practice and being a weaver keeps it alive for me. Thank you!
